Remember the times when you were a kid and a simple cardboard box could transform into a space rocket that took you on an adventure on Jupiter? Your toys became alive and the world was yours to explore. Your dreams were never pulled down by a nagging voice that said – but it’s not possible, you’re too poor for that, you’re not strong enough, not pretty enough. And then you grew up and as you went through kindergarten and school and work, all the childlike creativity got some boundaries in time from your teachers, relatives, friends, and colleagues.
If you can dream it, you can achieve it
Zig Ziglar
If you have built a lot of limitations in your head over the years, you may ask – what point is it to even dream if it’s not going to happen? Instead, think about what’s the worst that can happen if you do allow yourself to dream big. Did everything you dreamed of or imagined in your head as a kid come to reality? Probably not, but it made you have a ton of fun at that time, didn’t it? But what happens if you have stopped dreaming by the age you have reached now? Or if your dreams are limited by the thoughts and beliefs that have been put in your head? One thing is sure – getting rid of those limitations won’t become any easier. Instead, you will solidify them even more and in the worst case scenario will live a miserable uninspiring life you won’t be looking back at at the end of your journey thinking: “Well, that was a blast”. Dreaming can however tickle that childlike part of the mind, that has the capability of looking past boundaries and limitations. This is the part of your mind that is still capable of coming up with a plan to make those dreams a reality. You can always choose to ignore those thoughts and continue your life as you normally would, but I dare you to dream big today.
Here are some questions to get your thoughts rolling. Pay attention to the emotions and thoughts that these answers bring to you. How do they make you feel? Which parts of the mind do they tickle?
